The Dull Bits

Norman the Penguin

Norman the penguin lived in the South,
Not far from the South pole,
But he was unusual in one single way,
For he wasn’t a merry old soul.

You see he didn’t like the cold,
He never went for a swim,
He couldn’t play ice hockey or such games,
And life appeared very grim.

He shivered all day, shivered all night,
And grew tired of snow and ice,
He dreamed to go around the world,
And live in some place nice.

One day he had enough,
And with his suitcase he waddled away,
Up and north he swam and marched,
Away from the South he would stray.

Sooner or later he found himself,
A beach all covered with sand,
He sighed with relief and thought he was home,
It was hot there- you understand?

He rolled on his back and sunbathed,
But was soon covered with sunburn,
And all at once he wanted,
To be back in the South pole he would yearn.

He waddled all the way home,
Quickly back he fled,
And he was happy for ever after,
With slippers and a bobble hat on his head.
